Gary Werner, born in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands, started camping 33 years ago with his wife. They had a large RV and traveled all over America, sometimes joining other RV enthusiasts at events in each state to get to meet their fellow travelers. I met Gary - his American name, in Dutch he's Gerrit - at such an event at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds during the Good Sam weekend. Like many campers, he displays several flags outside of his Kiwi Too vehicle, but his is one of the few international flags along with his American flag and the Virginia state flag. Now his travel companion is a small dog named Molly, who keeps him company when he goes out on the road. It was such a sweet coincidence to meet Gary, after deciding to go to the fairgrounds on a whim and without any connection to the paper. I hoped to run into someone interesting, thinking that RV owners must be at least more adventurous than the average person. I'm glad I ran into Gary and Molly.
